Roll your Observe™ LEGO Car on the numberline on your desk and plot five ordered
pair points on a Desmos graph showing your car's position.
Write clear descriptions for each ordered pair in the
Activity 1 online worksheet.
Getting Ready:
An ordered pair is a set of two numbers written
in a specific order, like (x, y).
It shows the position of a point on a graph:
The first number (x) tells you how far to move left or right on
the horizontal x-axis.
The second number (y) tells you how far to move up or down on the
vertical-align y-axis.
For example, the ordered pair (2, 10) means:
Move 2 steps to the right on the x-axis (because x = 2).
Move 10 steps up on the y-axis (because y = 10).
Ordered pairs help you locate points on the coordinate grid
of a graph.

X in the top-right corner to close the video window and retrun
to this page.

Measuring Your Data:

to set up your workspace and pair your LEGO car with your computer.
Open the
LEGO Car Activity 1 Worksheet
in a new tab of your browser. Make a copy in your Google Drive and
then return to this page.
Scroll until the entire graph is visible. Smoothly roll your
car back and forth on the number line on your desk. Notice the
car's position (the black circle) on the graph’s y-axis moves
with the car's position on the number line.
Roll your car to the 30cm position on the numberline. Click the Plot Ordered Pair button to plot your first point (1,30) on the graph.
Roll your car to the follwing positions and plot each orded pair.
(2,50)
(3,-30)
(4,0)
(5,20)
You can try again if you are not satisfied with your graph. Click this
to reset graph. You will need to reconnect your car, notice the
5-digit ID is saved in the ID text box.
When finished, click this
button to copy your graph to the clipboard. Select the browser tab
with the Activty 1 worksheet and paste the graph into the worksheet.
